About the Position

Job Title: RN - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of current acute care hospital Med/Surg experience License: RN Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Must have a minimum of 1 year current acute care hospital Med/Surg experience - BLS certification Description: This is a travel RN position on a Med/Surg unit. The unit features 33 rooms and has the capacity for up to 49 patients, including some semi-private rooms. Staffing consists of 62 team members. During the day shift, there are 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, and 6-7 RNs. The night shift is covered by 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, and 5-6 RNs. Patient ratios are 4:1 during the day and 5:1 at night. Telemetry monitoring is utilized for patient care, with EMR managed through Meditech. Candidates without the minimum required experience will not be considered for this role. Preferred qualifications include experience working with spinal cord injury patients. Typical procedures performed on the unit include wound care and occasional bowel programs. Candidates should be prepared for a busy floor setting, as patient care is a priority. This unit specializes in surgical flap care and provides support for low acuity burn patients in partnership with a burn unit. The use of semi-private rooms may be necessary during high census periods, although this is not preferred practice. This role requires a dedicated RN who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is committed to patient care.
