Staffing Coordinator

Job Responsibilities Collaborate with Directors, Unit Supervisors and/or Director of Nursing to staff nursing areas and ensure regulatory agency and hospital standards are met. Assure that bodies of deceased patients are legally and expediently released to the appropriate agency. Fully understand and participate in fulfilling the Mission of SGVMC; demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values and support SGVMC’s strategic plan and the goals of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Specific Job Duties Initiates daily nursing office activity sheet and updates throughout the day (sends to nursing office report group the following day). Maintain licenses, certifications, competencies of per diems, agency staff and travelers on file. Enter all paperwork including vacation requests, sick notes & schedule changes. Enter all changes & alterations from staffing sheets. Copy the previous day’s staffing sheets for all Nursing Directors. Keep track of decedents—always have a Plan B in mind (in case the morgue becomes full). Enter acuity numbers into the Catalyst program. Enter daily nursing variance report. Answer heavy volume of incoming phone calls. Dispatch transporters and maintain patient transporting log. Update the daily registry report. Input new monthly schedules. Keep registry files current. Other duties as assigned. Decedent Affairs Maintain the morgue log and transfer it to the nursing office log. Assist in the timely placement of the decedent. Facilitate the process of placing the decedent in the Los Angeles County morgue, including processing the death certificate and county burial permit. If the decedent is a coroner’s case, assist the Director/House Supervisor in completing Form 18. Education/Training/Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Preferred Experience Previous clerical or unit secretary experience. Good writing and interpersonal skills. Ability to type and use computer. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
