Job-ID29297730Reference26-02873TypeDirect PlacementSalary$125,000-$150,000 / year Role Title: Manager – Software Engineering San Diego, CA (onsite) Experience: 10+ years | Management/Leadership: 3+ years Perm Role Role Overview Client is seeking a hands-on Manager of Software Engineering to lead a team of engineers and drive the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise and internal-facing applications. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with hands-on expertise in modern application development, cloud, APIs, integrations, and AI-assisted software engineering. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers. Drive application architecture, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and support. Establish engineering standards for coding, code reviews, testing, security, documentation, Git, and CI/CD. Partner with Product, Data, Security, Infrastructure, QA, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions. Own application reliability, performance, technical debt, and operational readiness. Lead incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Manage third-party engineering partners and distributed development teams. Champion AI-assisted development, including Claude Code and AI agents for coding, testing, documentation, debugging, refactoring, and automation. Establish appropriate governance, security, validation, and human-oversight practices for AI-generated code. Required Skills 10+ years of software development experience. 3+ years in Engineering Management, Technical Lead, or people leadership. Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET/.NET Core, REST APIs, SQL Server, and Cloud platforms. Experience with CI/CD, Git, Agile, software architecture, design patterns, integrations, testing, and application security. Experience delivering and supporting enterprise-grade applications. Strong stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience. Ideal Profile: A hands-on engineering leader who can manage people, make architectural/technical decisions, and still engage deeply with engineering teams and modern AI-assisted development practices.
