Job Title: Medical Lab Technician Profession: Medical Lab Tech Specialty: Blood Bank Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Not specified Certifications: MLT Certification required Must-Have: Blood Bank experience, night shift availability Description: MLT needed for Blood Bank with an immediate start. Nights: 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM, 40 hours per week. The Blood Bank performs a variety of tasks including antibody screens in solid phase and tube testing. Forward and reverse group testing is conducted regularly. Diets, elutions, and complex antibody workups are part of the job. Antibody titers and capture-P testing are essential functions. Support for massive transfusion protocols is required. Inventory management and quality control on equipment and reagents are critical. Component manipulation, including irradiation and divisions, is necessary. Support for neonatal transfusion and fetal maternal hemorrhage screens is performed. Dispensing and issuing of blood components is a responsibility of the role. Antigen typing and electronic and tube crossmatches are included in duties.
