About the Program: The mission of the Psychology program is to provide academic training in Psychology through a variety of approaches and perspectives. The Psychology Program exposes students to educational experiences that provide excellent training in Psychology and helps them meet program learning outcomes. Our coursework further prepares students to function in a world of diverse cultural, economic, ethnic, historical, and political viewpoints. About the Position: The Psychology Program (psych.csuci.edu/) at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) invites applications for a part-time lecturer position with an expected start date of August 19, 2026. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area is preferred. Post-doctoral research experience will be considered an asset and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence in teaching will be required. Teaching responsibilities will include lecture instruction in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology at the undergraduate level and contribution to components in curricula for Psychology. CSUCI seeks candidates with a proven commitment to an interdisciplinary, integrative, and innovative approach to teaching and learning, including the use of technology to improve student engagement, learning outcomes, and academic success. Minimum Degree Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area is preferred. Required Qualifications: Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area from an accredited institution. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively teach undergraduate courses in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success. Preferred Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area. A record of a minimum of one year of effective teaching in psychology at the university level. Evidence of commitment and ability to work with psychologists of different specializations and faculty from other disciplines. Licensed or license-eligible in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area in the state of California. Willingness to teach a broad spectrum of psychology courses in an in-person instructional format. Demonstrated expertise working in diverse communities and community settings. Experience in the use of innovative instructional strategies and technologies. Responsibilities: The candidate hired for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology in an in-person instructional format. This appointed faculty will be expected to teach 3 units per semester; meet with students during scheduled office hours; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; develop course syllabi; and keep up-to-date with theories as well as current applications and development of pedagogy in the field. This appointment may carry administrative duties such as producing teaching methodologies and materials and providing student support. This appointed faculty will be expected to participate in routine services to the department, college, and the University. Application Deadline: Screening of applications will begin 08/12/2026. California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules (anticipated hiring ranges) Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
