New Directions Northwest is seeking a Detox/Respite Technician to join our Recovery Village team in Baker City.
In this important role, you'll work alongside Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, behavioral health professionals, and support staff to care for individuals receiving medical detoxification and crisis respite services .
No medical certification is required. What we're looking for is someone who can remain calm, treat people with dignity and respect, pay attention to what's happening around them, and be a reliable member of a team.

As a Detox/Respite Technician, you'll help create the safe, clean, structured, and therapeutic environment our clients need while licensed clinical and medical staff provide treatment.
You'll observe, encourage, communicate, assist?and sometimes simply be the calm and respectful person someone needs during a difficult moment.
What You'll Do
In this position, you will:
- Monitor clients and promptly communicate behavioral or physical changes to nursing or medical staff.
- Conduct assigned safety and wellness checks.
- Support clients in following program expectations and participating in treatment activities.
- Provide calm, trauma-informed support to clients experiencing distress.
- Observe for signs of withdrawal, medical distress, or crisis behavior and immediately notify licensed staff.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, comfortable, and safe treatment environment.
- Assist with infection-control and sanitation practices.
- Accurately document observations, safety checks, and client activities.
- Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Work closely with RNs, MAs, behavioral health staff, and other members of the Recovery Village team.
- Assist with meals, laundry, shared spaces, and other activities that help the program operate smoothly.
- Participate in training, staff meetings, emergency procedures, and safety activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to successfully complete the required background check
- Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Willingness to complete required OHA/OAR training within 30 days of hire
Experience in behavioral health, detoxification, residential treatment, or a similar support role is preferred but not required .
Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed care, de-escalation, or infection-control practices is also helpful.
What to Expect
Recovery Village operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week , serving individuals receiving detoxification and crisis respite services.
The position involves regular walking and standing, cleaning responsibilities, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Team members may work with individuals experiencing withdrawal, behavioral crisis, or co-occurring disorders.
You'll receive direction and support from nursing leadership and work closely with an interdisciplinary team.
