Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00); Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-acuity Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will have prior charge experience and will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. The clinician will work with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4 and may be required to float to ED holding.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients, including those with trauma, cardiac, and stroke conditions.
• Utilize advanced monitoring equipment and technology in patient care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services.
• Administer continuous IV sedation and manage critical care interventions for high-acuity patients.
• Participate in community hospital experience with high census and ambulance presentations.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Department nursing; prior charge experience preferred.
• Certifications: Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certification required.
• Charting System Experience: Proficiency in Epic preferred.
• Patient Age Groups: Experience working with adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Trauma Level Experience: Preferred experience in Level I Trauma Centers.

Work Schedule

The position requires working weekends, with a schedule typically encompassing every other weekend. The clinician must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays throughout the year.

About the Emergency Department

This Emergency Department serves as a regional referral center for high-acuity cases, handling an average of 175 patient visits per day with a daily operating capacity of 50 beds. The department specializes in trauma, cardiac, and stroke care, and engages in special procedures including STEMI care, stroke protocols, and comprehensive trauma management.

Special Requirements

• Willingness to float between units as necessary.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work in ED holding.
