Online Adjunct Faculty in Sociology
Saint Joseph's College of Maine is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Online Adjunct Faculty member to teach an introductory course in Sociology within our online undergraduate core curriculum. The ideal candidate will foster an engaging, inclusive learning environment aligned with the College's mission and core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate introductory sociology in an online asynchronous or blended format
- Prepare and refine course materials, making minor revisions as necessary for course improvement, text edition changes, and updating supplemental reading lists
- Adhere strictly to the Faculty Teaching Commitments for Student Success, the College's Policy Guidebook, and the Faculty Handbook
- Manage and actively use the assigned SJC email account for all official communications
- Implement approved student ADA accommodations in coordination with the College's ADA Accommodations Officer
- Provide input to the Program Director for annual faculty performance evaluations
- Participate in SJC Online Faculty meetings, departmental activities, conference calls, and professional development workshops as appropriate
- Uphold and integrate the Mission, Objectives, and Core Values of the Saint Joseph's College community
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Sociology or a closely related field from an accredited institution (Ph.D. preferred)
- Experience: Demonstrated online teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Technical & Pedagogical Skills: Proven proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and demonstrated knowledge of online teaching best practices
