ASSOCIATE INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

Salary: $7,126.00 - $10,443.00 per month New to State candidates will be hired at the classification minimum salary or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Final Filing Date: Until Filled Associate Industrial Hygienist Location: Orange County (Cypress Regional Office) Roles and Responsibilities Conduct and participate in comprehensive occupational safety and health site audits and visits to ensure compliance with industry standards. Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, analyze, and adopt appropriate action plans for occupational safety and health hazards. Provide guidance on hazard appraisal and recognition plans using safety analysis techniques. Prepare, calibrate, and maintain industrial hygiene and field equipment including gas detectors, flame detectors, noise dosimeters, particulate monitors, and radiation detectors. Investigate occupational safety and health complaints related to industrial, construction, electrical, hazardous waste, and other disciplines at DTSC sites. Participate in inspections of DTSC infrastructure and field visits (search warrants, inspection warrants, periodic and scheduled inspections) focusing on safety hazards. Qualifications Skilled in professional written and verbal communication. Ability to analyze situations independently and make quick, effective decisions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent time‑management and organizational skills to prioritize and complete work timely. Knowledge of principles and methods for eliminating hazards associated with chemical and physical exposures. Experience in safety inspections, accident investigations, accident prevention, consultation, training, and technical report writing. Ability to identify occupational safety and health hazards and unsafe working conditions in construction, electrical, and industrial disciplines.
