Associate Director, Advocacy & Engagement

Overview Job Summary The Associate Director, Advocacy & Engagement supports CHA’s legislative and public policy priorities by engaging with Congress, the Executive Branch, coalition partners, and CHA members to communicate the association’s advocacy agenda and public policy positions. Working closely with the Vice President, Advocacy & Public Policy, this position plays a key role in advancing advocacy strategies, member engagement initiatives, and communication efforts that promote CHA’s policy goals. The Associate Director contributes to advocacy planning and execution, supports CHA’s grassroots and member engagement efforts, and assists with the development, implementation, and dissemination of advocacy content and rapid-response campaigns. The role collaborates across CHA departments to help align advocacy messaging and mobilize member participation across the Catholic health ministry. Duties & Responsibilities Support the development and implementation strategies, leveraging new and existing avenues of engagement, to enhance CHA’s grassroots infrastructure and member engagement in advocacy efforts. Coordinate and support the development and oversee the dissemination of advocacy content for a variety of audiences, including alerts, position papers, letters to Congress, policy briefs, and weekly updates. Contribute to the development of CHA’s biannual advocacy agenda and assist with CHA publication content related to legislative priorities. Serve as a point of contact and support liaison to members of Congress, congressional staff, Administration officials, and national coalitions to communicate CHA’s policy positions. Conduct legislative analysis and policy research to support the development of proposals and advocacy strategies. Support the planning and execution of advocacy events, including congressional briefings, retreats, and sessions at CHA’s Assembly. Coordinate CHA member engagement, particularly with health system advocacy leaders, to align on policy goals and strategies. Assist in the development and maintenance of advocacy content on CHA’s website, including the e-Advocacy platform and updates on priority issues. Participate in ongoing coalitions, partner meetings, events, and policy workgroups, building strategic alliances with external partners. Provide support to the Vice President, Advocacy and Public Policy in government relations activities, strategic planning, and issue management. Assist with rapid-response advocacy needs, collaborating with internal teams and member organizations as needed. Provide logistical and programmatic support at CHA’s annual Assembly and other key events, including on-site attendance and coordination. Contribute to cross-departmental projects and perform other duties as assigned. Location HOME OFFICE LOCATION: Washington, DC office with the ability to work from home subject to CHA’s policies on flexible work arrangements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience 5+ years of progressive experience in congressional affairs, federal agencies, or associations with a health policy focus 3+ years of experience in grassroots health care advocacy Strong knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes Exceptionally persuasive writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills Ability to understand and analyze complex legislative and regulatory issues, including policy briefs, alerts, and official correspondence Advanced research and policy analysis skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and content management systems Familiarity with grassroots advocacy platforms and coalition engagement Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of Catholic health care mission and social tradition strongly preferred Position Pay Range The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $96,209 to $120,291 annually. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
