Job Title: Kitter / General Production Worker Job Description

This role focuses on general production and kitting activities in a clean, temperature-controlled facility in South Portland. You will perform a variety of tasks such as assembly, product preparation, and general labor while following detailed instructions and using computer-based tools. The position suits someone who enjoys cross-training, pays close attention to detail, and has prior production experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general production duties including assembly, product preparation, and kitting according to established procedures.
• Follow detailed work instructions and production schedules to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
• Use computer systems and software to track work orders, document completed tasks, and update production records.
• Handle materials and products safely while maintaining organization in a large warehouse with multiple storage racks.
• Inspect products and components for accuracy and quality, identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies.
• Cross-train in multiple production tasks to support different areas of the operation as needed.
• Maintain a clean and dust-free work area, adhering to all housekeeping and safety standards.
• Wear required smocks and follow static-elimination procedures to protect products and equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and support continuous improvement.
• Follow all workplace safety guidelines and report any hazards or issues promptly.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of production experience in a related field.
• Strong attention to detail when assembling, preparing, and handling products.
• Strong computer skills for entering data, tracking orders, and following digital instructions.
• Ability to learn and cross-train on multiple production tasks and processes.
• Capability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Comfort working in a structured, process-driven production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in general production, assembly, or kitting environments.
• Familiarity with working in a warehouse setting with storage racks and organized inventory.
• Experience working in a clean, dust-free, or controlled environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different production areas as needed.

Work Environment

The position operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work in a large, open warehouse with extensive storage racks, which can feel like a bit of a maze, and you will navigate this space regularly as part of your duties. The facility is temperature-controlled, very clean, and dust-free, providing a comfortable and well-maintained workspace. To eliminate static and protect products, a smock is required as part of the dress code. The role is not highly physical, focusing more on attention to detail and consistent, steady production work in a controlled environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Portland, ME.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.50/hr.
