Counsel Office: Oakland Department: Litigation Responsibilities Counsel at the Firm represent clients in individual, class, and collective actions in all areas of employment law—including matters that may involve wage‑and‑hour issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, leaves of absence, or layoffs—and supervise/lead matters in a variety of contexts including federal and state courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative agencies such as the EEOC, as well as negotiations and client counseling. Qualifications Experience and Education: You have a minimum of 8 years of legal experience including a minimum of 4 years of practicing employment‑law experience. You have strong analytical, writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Must be admitted to the California bar. Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to good judgment in connection with confidential Firm matters. Leadership, Initiative, and Teamwork: You have extensive experience with matter management and supervising/delegating to junior attorneys and staff. You approach challenges with a growth mindset, possess the ability to work well within a team, and establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and others. You are capable of prioritizing the business and professional interests of the Firm and have experience utilizing your network and resources to promote the needs of an organization. Compensation An attractive compensation package tailored to experience, with a target base salary of $200,000–$220,000 per year (exempt). Counsel are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses. Partner Office: Oakland Department: Litigation Responsibilities As a Partner at Outten & Golden LLP, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Firm's business, mission and values. You will have heightened stewardship responsibility with respect to the Firm’s resources and culture. This role demands trusted judgment and the ability to make sound decisions independently while collaborating with peers and leadership. Key Responsibilities Partners represent clients in individual, class, and collective actions in all areas of employment law—including matters that may involve wage‑and‑hour issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, leaves of absence, or layoffs—and supervise/lead matters in a variety of contexts including federal and state courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative agencies such as the EEOC, as well as negotiations and client counseling. Partners contribute to the Firm's growth and innovation by promoting and expanding business opportunities. They collaborate with Firm leadership to develop and implement a sustainable business plan to generate new business and manage matters effectively. Partners place the highest priority on the business and professional interests of the Firm and its clients/matters, promote those interests, and demonstrate top‑notch legal skills. Partners lead case teams with sound judgment and provide high‑quality legal representation. They also collaborate effectively with peers and Firm leadership. Partners mentor and guide junior attorneys, fostering their professional development, providing feedback, and holding their teams to consistent standards. They may be involved in personnel decisions in collaboration with the Firm’s people team and leadership. Qualifications Experience and Education: Minimum of 8 years of legal experience including a minimum of 4 years of practicing employment‑law experience. Recognized in the employment law community as an outstanding attorney and leader in the field. Strong analytical, writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills. JD required. Must be admitted to the California bar. Business Generation, Productivity, and Revenue Generation: Strong business acumen and experience in business development and client management. Able to articulate a realistic and workable “business plan” that will allow the partner candidate to become a profit center, recognizing that the Firm’s financial success depends not only on working billable hours and originating fees, but also on productivity in producing revenue. Leadership, Initiative, and Teamwork: Extensive experience with matter management and supervising/delegating to junior attorneys and staff. Approach challenges with a growth mindset; work well within a team; establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and others; prioritize the business and professional interests of the Firm, experience utilizing network and resources to promote the needs of an organization. Compensation Target base salary of $225,000–$295,000 per year (full‑time exempt). Partners are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses. Staff Attorney (Temporary) Office: Multiple Department: Litigation Responsibilities conducting targeted case law research on class certification, remedies, expert admissibility, notice, and defenses; preparing expert background summaries, including credentials, testimony history, publications, and known defense challenges; preparing research memoranda, case charts, and string citations for review by partners or associates; collecting and analyzing pleadings, discovery, deposition excerpts, and technical documents; tracking new decisions, rule changes, and briefing deadlines relevant to the claims and defenses; summarizing key authorities from California, the Ninth Circuit, and other jurisdictions on a range of issues such as settlement approval requirements, recent court concerns affecting class settlements; tracking developments in cases involving valuation, restitution, and class‑wide proof of harm; monitoring public statements, policy updates, investor disclosures, and litigation filings; and undertaking other legal work as directed. Qualifications Experience and Education: Minimum of 1 year of legal experience, ideally in a law firm supporting a litigation practice. Strong analytical, writing, research, and organizational skills. Must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be a member of the California bar (in good standing) as well as admitted in the state of location for remote work to be done (if different). Ownership, Initiative, and Teamwork: Takes ownership of projects and follows through on completion. Proactively seeks additional projects when bandwidth allows. Possesses ability to work well within a team but also comfortable working independently.
