Accounting Manager

Company Description The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) is Alabama's premier destination for sports, conventions, and entertainment, located in the heart of Birmingham, AL. The campus includes three exhibition halls and extensive meeting space totaling 380,000 square feet for trade shows, consumer shows, exhibitions, and meetings. BJCC features major sports and entertainment venues, including a concert hall, stadium, and the state's largest arena. The complex also encompasses the Uptown Entertainment District, The Westin Birmingham, and the 497-room Sheraton Birmingham, the largest hotel in the state. In partnership with Live Nation, BJCC recently opened the 9,380-seat Coca-Cola Amphitheater, expanding its roster of high-profile events and performances. Role Description The Accounting Manager will at the direction of the Senior Director of Finance oversee the general accounting operations by maintaining, reviewing and verifying financial records or transactions. Performs account reconciliations, event accounting and other account analysis for BJCC accounts. Generates accounting reports. Maintains financial records, analyzing accounts and/or other routine accounting duties. Provides accounting assistance to the Senior Director of Finance. Trains and mentors accounting staff members. Qualifications Minimum of seven (7) years related knowledge, experience, and skills in accounting, account reconciliations, accounts receivable and maintenance of financial records required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred. CPA preferred. Valid State Driver License. Due to the significant fiduciary responsibilities of this position, the offer will be contingent on an additional satisfactory credit check Excellent understanding of relevant accounting standards and regulations. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communications skills. Demonstrates excellent time management and organizational skills with an attention to details. Ability to work ethically and maintain confidentiality. Must possess superb verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly speak and write Business English. Ability to build effective relationships, both internally and externally, by representing BJCC in a professional manner in all endeavors. Ability to apply accounting principles to the maintenance of complex fiscal and accounting records. Knowledgeable of accounting principles and practices. Must have excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office and using spreadsheets and accounting software.
