The Warehouse Associate – Pipe Yard is on the front line of fulfillment — pulling pipe and conduit for customers and branches, working as part of a crew, operating equipment safely, and keeping the yard organized and accurate every shift. What you do directly affects whether contractors can build on schedule and whether Shepherd keeps its word.If you take pride in physical work done right, accuracy matters to you, and you like being part of a crew that holds itself to a standard — this role was built for you.Work Shift and Hours:Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pmCompensation Details:The expected pay rate for this position is starting between $20.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience.Key Duties - What you will do and what it takes.Material Pulling & FulfillmentPull EMT, PVC conduit, strut, galvanized/IMC, and related material for customers and other branchesVerify counts on every pull — accuracy is non-negotiable in this roleStage completed orders clearly for customer pickup or branch transferCommunicate clearly with the crew when quantities are short, damaged, or unclearLoading & UnloadingLoad and offload trucks safely and accuratelyConfirm outbound loads match the order before the truck leavesHandle inbound freight carefully and flag overages, shortages, or damage immediatelyEquipment OperationOperate sit-down forklift and pipe bander in accordance with safety standardsComplete pre-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs before operatingCertification required or ability to obtain through onsite trainingYard Organization & MaintenanceKeep the pipe yard organized, clean, and navigable — aisles clear, product stored correctly, hazards addressedPerform general yard maintenance as needed to maintain a safe and functional work environmentRestock and reorganize material locations after pulls so the next order starts cleanCrew & CommunicationWork within a crew — communicate proactively, cover shifts in volume spikes, and hold the standard togetherFlag discrepancies, missing material, or safety concerns to your supervisor without delayWhat Success Looks Like - After 90 days, you and your supervisor should both be able to point to these markers:Pulls are accurate — counts are right, product is staged, nothing leaves wrongThe yard is organized, product locations are current, and the space is ready for the next crewEquipment is operated safely and inspected every shift before useYou are communicating proactively with your crew — not waiting to be askedCustomers and branches can trust that what they ordered is ready when they arriveYou have identified at least one area where the yard can run better and brought it to your supervisorWho Thrives Here - This role is a strong fit if:You care about accuracy — a wrong count bothers you, and you recount before you walk awayYou work well in a crew — you communicate, you cover, and you show up ready to contributeYou take ownership of your area — the yard reflects your standard, not just your task listPhysical, outdoor work suits you — you are comfortable in a yard environment across seasonsYou operate equipment carefully and follow safety procedures without needing to be remindedYou are on time, consistent, and reliable — the crew and customers depend on itQualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredPrior warehouse, yard, or material handling experience preferredForklift certification (sit-down) required or ability to obtain through onsite trainingPipe bander experience a plus; training providedAbility to perform physical requirements of the role, including lifting heavy material and working outdoorsReliable attendance and punctuality are essential — overtime required when neededElectrical product knowledge is a plus but not requiredAbility to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirementsThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals occupying this position of employment.
