Company Overview
A growing farming company with multiple legal entities and integrated cold storage operations is consolidating its accounting functions and seeking a Senior Accountant. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and preparing consolidated financial statements across the organization.

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting activities for multiple entities, assist with the consolidation process, and ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and delivered on a timely basis. The ideal candidate has strong general ledger experience, understands intercompany accounting, and is comfortable working in an agricultural, food production, logistics, or cold storage environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities for multiple legal entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other adjusting entries.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support the consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, balances, and eliminations.
• Prepare consolidated balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
• Assist with accounting for farming operations, inventory, crop costs, equipment, and other agricultural assets.
• Support accounting activities related to cold storage operations, including inventory, storage revenue, operating costs, and fixed assets.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related entries, and cash reconciliations as needed.
• Coordinate with operations, purchasing, payroll, and management to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audit requests, and tax-related schedules.
• Prepare management reports and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Recommend improvements to accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures.
• Maintain organized documentation for reconciliations, close activities, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial statement consolidation.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with intercompany transactions and eliminations.
• Experience in agriculture, food production, distribution, logistics, warehousing, or cold storage preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial reporting functions.
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with consolidations involving multiple entities or business lines.
• Knowledge of inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, and operational accounting.
• Experience supporting external audits, tax filings, or financial reviews.
• CPA or CPA-track status preferred but not required.
• Experience with agricultural accounting or cold storage operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced operating environment that includes farming activities, cold storage operations, and corporate accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will regularly collaborate with accounting, operations, and management teams across multiple entities.
