Retail Sales Associate – Guest & Patient Services (Hospital Environment)

Job Type: Full-Time Flex, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with immediate full benefits; not a temporary job )

Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15213 (Oakland)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift (Flexible daylight schedule ranging from 28 to 40 hours per week)

New Hire Starting Base Pay: $19.00 – $21.71 per hour (Starting pay based on experience, with clear advancement pathways as you build specialized expertise.)

Future Earning Potential: Established employees have the opportunity to earn progressive pay increases up to $29.85 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and continuous learning.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Education & Basic Skills: High School Diploma or GED required; strong reading and basic arithmetic skills to manage register transactions and inventory counts.
• Customer Service & Communication: Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a retail setting. Interpersonal skills to assist patients, visitors, and hospital staff with a high level of courtesy and professionalism.
• Retail & Cash Handling Capabilities: Ability to operate a cash register, count change accurately, balance daily drawer receipts, and provide complimentary gift-wrapping services.
• Physical & Organizational Abilities: Capacity to restock shelves, maintain visual merchandising standards, handle merchandise ticketing/logging, and perform room deliveries across the facility.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Customer Service & Retail Sales: Warmly greet and assist shoppers selecting items across boutique, jewelry, card, magazine, and specialty gift areas.
• Cash Register & Daily Financials: Process sales, log voids or over-rings under supervisor guidance, balance daily register receipts, and deliver cash deposits to the cashier office.
• In-Hospital Gift Delivery: Coordinate and personally deliver gift items and flowers directly to patient rooms as directed.
• Inventory Management & Merchandising: Receive incoming merchandise shipments, tag inventory, stock display cases, monitor stock levels, and alert managers to low-inventory items.
• Shop Upkeep & Presentation: Maintain clean, organized display shelves, glass cases, and checkout counters to ensure an inviting shopping environment.
