Wire Harness Assembler – 1st Shift

Location: Elkhart, IN
Shift: 1st Shift | 5:00 AM–2:00 PM or 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $18.00/hour

Job Summary

Are you an experienced Wire Harness Assembler looking for a hands-on manufacturing opportunity? We're seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Wire Harness Assembler to join our team in Elkhart, IN. In this role, you'll assemble and prepare wire harnesses used in electrical systems by cutting, stripping, routing, and connecting wires while following detailed work instructions and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has previous wire harness assembly experience, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistent productivity.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Wire Harness Assembler, your core responsibilities will include:

• Wire Harness Assembly: Assemble wire harnesses by cutting, stripping, routing, and organizing wires according to production requirements.

• Wire & Connector Preparation: Prepare wires and attach terminals, connectors, and other electrical components using hand tools and assembly equipment.

• Blueprint & Diagram Interpretation: Read and follow wiring diagrams, assembly prints, work orders, and visual instructions to ensure accurate assembly.

• Quality Inspection: Inspect completed harnesses for correct wire placement, secure connections, proper routing, and visible defects.

• Repetitive Assembly: Perform repetitive production tasks while maintaining accuracy, quality, and consistent productivity.

• Production Support: Identify and report assembly defects or issues while assisting with additional production tasks as needed.

• Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized workstation while following established safety and quality procedures.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Previous wire harness assembly or wire harness-making experience required.

• Familiarity with wires, terminals, connectors, and electrical assembly components.

• Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and work instructions.

• Experience using basic hand tools and wire assembly equipment.

• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Ability to handle small components and perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks throughout the shift.

• Ability to identify visible defects, incorrect connections, and assembly errors.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Skills

• Wire Harness Assembly: Experience assembling electrical wire harnesses according to production specifications.

• Wire Preparation: Ability to cut, strip, route, and organize wires for assembly.

• Connector & Terminal Assembly: Experience attaching terminals and connectors using appropriate tools and methods.

• Blueprint & Diagram Reading: Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and work instructions.

• Quality Control: Ability to inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, proper connections, correct routing, and visible defects.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain consistent quality while handling small electrical components.

• Manual Dexterity: Comfortable performing detailed assembly work requiring precise hand movements.

• Repetitive Work: Ability to complete repetitive tasks while maintaining focus, accuracy, and productivity.

• Organization: Ability to keep tools, components, and work materials organized to support efficient production.
