Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to work toward long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation) for assigned patients, consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families within the level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocol; monitors side-effects and effectiveness of treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources. Qualifications and Requirements Education/Skills : Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred Experience : 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications : BLS required; RN License in state of employment or compact Position Requirements All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member; initial onboarding requirements are validated through completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements. Experience: Perinatal RN Residency, or recently practicing in a Perinatal Setting is preferred. Certifications: Current certification from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM (or related), NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM); STABLE certification; NRP; ACLS. Certification requirements may have grace periods per policy.
