Job Description Campus: Brooklyn, New York Department Name and ID#: Auxiliary Services & Event Managment Department’s Dean And/or Director Location: Building and Floor: WRAC Building C Floor Supervisor Name: Jon Pepaj Title: Part-time Staff-Lifeguard Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities): Ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. Duties And Principal Responsibilities Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safety facility. Keep the management well informed of pool maintenance needs including cleaning, chemical adjustments and repairs. Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the director of special events. Interacts with patrons regarding concerns, problems, or any other significant issues. Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program Current Certifications In The Following American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures Leadership and public relations skills Decision-making skills Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate Period of employment: Begin Date:9/2026 - 01/30/2027 LIU is an equal opportunity employer.
