Electronics Technician III

Crane Aerospace and Electronics (CA&E) is a supplier of critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. CA&E’s Lynnwood, WA facility delivers industry‑leading power and fluid solutions for aircraft, satellites, medical implants, missiles and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The plant supports manufacturing, repair, and testing in rugged environments including NASA missions and all‑electric aircraft. Job Summary The Electronics Technician III works under limited direction and is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic or mechanical products, parts, equipment, and systems. The role covers computer equipment, instrumentation, digital/analog electronics, test equipment and electro‑mechanical products. Essential Functions Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings; use manufacturing and engineering instructions for testing assembled units. Create non‑conformance reports with a detailed description of testing performed, resulting failures and initial root‑cause investigation results. Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, drawings, schematics, functional and acceptance test procedures, and all applicable engineering and production specifications. Calibrate or adjust assigned units (component selection, potentiometer adjustment, clocking, shimming, tension or coil adjustments, bearing and gear adjustments). Perform necessary mathematical calculations for voltage, resistance, current, impedance, amplification, flow rate, mass, and mechanical dimensions. Perform automated testing and performance testing using a variety of automated testing equipment and test consoles to simulate in‑service specifications (e.g., vibration, burn‑in, thermal cycle, flying probe &ICT). Carry out manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation and interpretation of results from standard and special purposes test equipment (differential and multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, altitude chamber, flow meter and hi‑pot). Test units in other programs and units of greater complexity under limited supervision. Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and CA&E policy. Support CA&E Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work and Problem Solving. Maintain system logs and manuals documenting testing and operation of equipment. Cross‑train less‑experienced technicians and take a leadership role in the value stream. Work overtime and/or after hours as needed. Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management. Non‑Essential Functions Support customer visits. Support internal and external audits. Perform minimal work under a microscope or soldering. Work with design & test engineering when there is a production problem. Travel occasionally to support customers. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 5+ years in a related field, or equivalent educational experience. Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting, circuitry or mechanical characteristics, and familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment. Skills: Good oral and written expression in English. Abilities: Learn new test software and equipment; identify abnormal conditions; manual and finger dexterity; precise coordinated movements; work in multiple software systems including PDM and MRP. Education/Certification: AA degree in Electronic or Mechanical Technology, or equivalent knowledge through experience or recognized educational institution. Eligibility: May require access to Controlled Data or Information; only US persons considered for positions requiring ITAR. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for effective manufacturing and distribution. Practical application of engineering electronics, science, and technology for design and production of goods and services. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, and programming. Working Conditions Typical manufacturing environment; use of safety equipment (eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, PPE). Potential exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes. Standing: ~20%; Sitting: ~80%; Lifting up to 35 pounds; Pushing up to 100 pounds.
