Working Lead Cnc Mill Machinist
A growing precision manufacturing company is seeking a working lead CNC mill machinist to provide hands-on leadership in a fast-paced machine shop. This role is ideal for an experienced CNC machinist who enjoys programming, setting up, proving out jobs, troubleshooting, and mentoring fellow machinists while remaining actively involved in production.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, prove out, and troubleshoot CNC mill jobs using Fusion 360.
- Perform machine setups, tooling selection, workholding, fixturing, offsets, and first-part inspections.
- Support CNC lathe operations when needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, setup sheets, travelers, and work orders.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to machinists and operators.
- Coordinate with production, quality, estimating, and shipping to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Promote safe work practices, quality standards, and continuous process improvement.
- Maintain organized work areas and ensure proper documentation of setup and process changes.
Qualifications
- Strong experience setting up and operating CNC mills in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Proficiency with Fusion 360 programming.
- Solid understanding of tooling, fixturing, workholding, offsets, speeds and feeds, and CNC machining fundamentals.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Previous lead, mentoring, or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience with CNC lathes and high-mix/low-volume manufacturing is a plus.
