About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate General Counsel with a strong background in legal matters to join their mission-driven team. The successful candidate will work closely with the General Counsel and Legal Department to uphold the organization's legal, governance, and risk frameworks, all in the service of conservation. This role is pivotal in supporting the protection and restoration of natural ecosystems, and the ideal candidate will be inspired by the opportunity to use their legal expertise to advance the company's values and mission. Key responsibilities for the Associate General Counsel include providing strategic legal support, advising on a wide range of legal issues, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit and corporate laws. The role also involves corporate governance, policy development, and risk management. The candidate should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, be an active member of the California State Bar, and have 7-12 years of relevant legal experience. Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively with senior leaders and Board Members. A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset, and a genuine commitment to the values of the organization, particularly in the area of conservation, are also key attributes for this position.
