Department: Machine Shop Reports to: Service Operations Manager Location: Mulberry, Florida Shift: 1st Shift, 8 hours FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Service Operations Manager, the Machinist operates manual machine tools and equipment to perform complex machining tasks on castings weighing up to 20,000 lbs. This position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity, with the ability to work independently and train team members as needed. Responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings, applying sound machining practices, and meeting production and quality standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and KSB GIW, Inc. policies. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and goals. Meet or exceed productivity metrics for machining efficiency. Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles. Perform mathematical and geometric calculations for machining and programming. Follow work instructions and complete documentation both verbally and within the ERP system. Conduct routine equipment maintenance. Prepare and handle industrial rotating equipment components for machining as required by the task. Accurately complete inspection reports and required documentation. Operate shop equipment, including drills, grinders, manual milling machines, and cranes. Safely rig, lift, and maneuver castings weighing up to 20,000 lbs. Set up and machine large castings, shafts, and various parts, adjusting for variations as needed. Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as necessary. Use precision measuring instruments correctly, such as micrometers and bore gauges. Apply knowledge of deflection and thermal growth when machining hard materials, making adjustments as needed. Re-sharpen CBN tooling when required. Work independently with minimal supervision. Train and mentor other machinists. Maintain housekeeping standards within work areas and shift. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education High School diploma or GED required. Experience Experience operating manual machine tools in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Proficient in reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T. Experience machining large or heavy castings preferred. Crane and rigging experience is a plus. Ability to mentor and train others.
