Associate Director, Global Proteomics

Johnson & Johnson seeks an Associate Director of Global Proteomics to lead a team deploying mass spectrometry technologies for target identification and therapeutic optimization. This Cambridge-based role combines scientific leadership, operational oversight, and cross-functional collaboration across oncology, immunology, and neuroscience programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop wet-lab scientist team, fostering inclusive culture focused on scientific excellence and safety
- Establish delivery frameworks with service level agreements, cycle-time targets, and portfolio-aligned prioritization
- Plan and oversee proteomics studies supporting target identification, mechanism of action elucidation, and biomarker discovery
- Partner with bioinformatics and data science teams to ensure quality control, FAIR data practices, and computational analysis
- Translate proteomics findings for non-expert audiences and influence study design across multiple therapeutic areas
Requirements
- Doctorate in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, or related field
- 8+ years hands-on proteomics laboratory experience, including 4+ years in drug discovery
- Demonstrated leadership of mass spectrometry operations with measurable portfolio impact
- Hands-on proficiency with LC and MS platforms (Thermo, Waters, Bruker, Evosep systems)
- Experience with automated plate-based proteomics workflows and laboratory automation systems
- Strong program coordination and portfolio management capabilities
- Familiarity with machine learning or AI approaches applied to mass spectrometry data
