Concrete Structures Investigator

Concrete Structures Investigator Position within the Strengthening Division of Structural Technologies in Columbia, Maryland. The role focuses on field investigations of concrete and steel structures, performing non‑destructive testing, and delivering clear reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Perform field investigations at various sites across the United States and Canada Operate non‑destructive testing equipment such as GPR, pulse velocity, and rebound hammer Lead pre‑planning activities with business development, engineering, and project managers, and communicate planning details to construction teams Coordinate post‑investigation activities, including development of field reports and drawings Communicate and contract with external testing labs for sample testing (compressive strength, tensile strength, chloride content, petrographic analysis, etc.) Analyze data and develop test reports and presentations summarizing investigative findings Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Material Science, or a related field Proficient with MS Office Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings Strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear and concise reports Excellent verbal communication skills Hands‑on attitude and willingness to work on civil infrastructure both on‑site and in the office Prior experience investigating concrete and steel structures is a plus Preferred experience with material testing and NDT equipment (GPR, pulse velocity, etc.) Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time Benefits Competitive compensation and benefits including medical and dental insurance, 401(k), paid holidays and vacation, tuition reimbursement, career development opportunities, and a caring work environment.
