Starting Rate - $19.75 - $23.75 DOE*

Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. is hiring a Groundsman at our Asphalt Plant in Conroe.

• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
• Must be able to read equipment operating manual
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
• Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment
• Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment
• Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions
• Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
• This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis
• Must be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform duties
• Must be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis
• Must be able to work at various heights
• Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls
• Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet
• Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicle
• Must be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day
• Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.

Responsibilities

• The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed
• Schedules may change from time-to-time, depending on business needs
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• These duties include primarily shoveling spillage areas, also to include lubricating machinery, monitor the plant, heavy ground maintenance, and inspect plant daily
• Maintains yard and equipment
• Cleans conveyor belt areas and performs minor preventive maintenance and replaces worn/damaged components as needed
• Assists with other maintenance as needed
• Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies, MSHA, TCEQ and other regulators
• Assist with operation of other equipment
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
• Perform duties with minimum supervision
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles, team player with strong interpersonal skills, dedicated and hard working.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test/heavy demand physical.
• Must have reliable transportation.
