Pharmacy Tech Float

Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community.

Responsibilities include answering phones for the pharmacy department, directing calls, maintaining knowledge of hospital policies, prepackaging and labeling prescriptions, managing cash registers, preparing daily deposits, billing and crediting patient medications, stocking inventory, checking and removing outdated medications, delivering medications, filing prescriptions, maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy, entering outpatient prescriptions, obtaining and recording patient drug histories, triaging orders, performing calculations to determine correct doses, handling chemotherapeutic medications, coordinating medication orders, completing intake processes, documenting patient interactions, performing patient tracking, processing claims, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, current pharmacy technician registration with the MN State Board, PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification, computer skills, knowledge of pharmacy computer systems, insurance and billing experience, experience working with specialty medications, and the ability to communicate, prioritize tasks, use a computer effectively, and understand oral and written instructions.
