Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Recent nursing experience within the past 6 months - Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer acceptance - Ability to pass a pass/fail exam on the first day of orientation - Knowledge of proper sterile techniques Description: The position involves working in a 28-bed unit that specializes in neuro post-surgical care, spine care, and patients with CVAs post TPA. Ratios for patient care are 1:3-4. Charge nurse responsibilities do not include patient assignments, as there is also a clinical supervisor in a management role. Patient care technicians are available at a ratio of 1 per 16 patients. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Scrub color is navy. Centralized telemetry is utilized, and registered nurses must be able to interpret EKGs. There is no ventilation support provided. Hospitalists round during the day and are on call at night. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM. Floor-specific orientation will cover 2 days on the unit. No intracranial pressure monitoring is conducted. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shift cancellations per 13-week assignment. Charting is performed using the Cerner system.
