Cashier Position at CurrentBurger

We are looking for a friendly, upbeat, and reliable Cashier to join our team at CurrentBurger. The Cashier is the first and last point of contact for our guests, providing great service with a positive attitude. This role includes taking customer orders, handling payments, and ensuring the dining area stays clean and welcoming. This role will also assist in creating and making delectable milkshakes and soft serve ice cream for our guests.

About CurrentBurger:

Times change, but burgers never go out of style. Inspired by classic soda shops, this casual eatery serves a variety of elevated comfort foods, including juicy smash burgers and hand-spun milkshakes. Eat in, or pick up your order from our take-out window bordering Waterfront Park.

Hours of Operation:

11AM – 9PM daily

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Order Taking

• Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming experience
• Take food and ice cream orders accurately (in person and/or via phone or POS system)
• Answer menu questions and offer recommendations

Cash Handling & POS Operations

• Process payments, handle cash, credit, and digital transactions
• Issue receipts and ensure accurate change is given
• Follow proper cash drawer and register procedures

Restaurant Support

• Ensure the front counter, dining area, and beverage/condiment stations remain clean & stocked
• Work with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely order delivery
• Assist with packaging take-out or delivery orders

Required Skills/Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred, but not required
• Basic math skills and comfort using a POS system
• Strong communication skills and a friendly personality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines
• Support team members as needed during busy shifts
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude with customers and coworkers

• Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by restaurant environmental systems; however, employees must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for at least 8 hours in length.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the restaurant on a timely basis.
• Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. frequently.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, listening, hearing and visual acuity.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
• Safely lift and easily maneuver plates, cases of water, chairs, and tables.
