Fiscal & Business Analyst I

Overview This job will report into an administrative management position such as Director, Associate or Assistant Director, Dean, Associate or Assistant Dean, Program Director, Department Head, or similar position. The Fiscal and Business Analyst specializes in financial reporting and analysis, fiscal resource management, and budget analysis, providing financial information through budget projections and financial forecasting to help in financial planning and identify trends in departmental spending. The role qualifies for exempt status under the administrative duties exemption of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Key Responsibilities Budget Management (30%): Maintain financial reports for Molecular Medicine/Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, including monthly reconciliations for multiple USF Byrd accounts; complete monthly projections for individual Molecular Medicine PIs; assist with preparing the all‑source budget and other reports. Grant Awards (25%): Enter grant award documents into the Bulls iResearch system, prepare budget allocations and reconciliations, process sub‑award contracts, and prepare sponsor reports, meeting prescribed deadlines. Procurement (25%): Process Purchase Order requests for the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute and Molecular Medicine, including BullMarketplace punch‑out orders and contract requests; ensure appropriate chart‑fields, funding allocation, and provide financial forecasting. Account Compliance (15%): Conduct monthly analyses to monitor spending and compliance, process expenditure transfer requests as needed. Other administrative duties as assigned (5%). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, with 0‑2 years of fiscal‑related experience; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in any field plus two years of fiscal‑related experience; or four years of fiscal‑related work experience. Knowledge, skills and abilities: analytical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, effective communication, customer service, and knowledge of accounting, consolidated financial reporting, reconciliation of multiple accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries. Degree equivalency: four years of direct experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
