Overview As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems in our data centers, ensuring 24/7 reliability and supporting the ever‑evolving technology landscape. Key Responsibilities Conduct daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment. Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS). Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Perform rack installs and de‑commissioning within SLAs. Execute preventive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment. Prepare technical documentation for change management. Process daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion. Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with practices and local legislation. Coordinate work across multiple locations as needed. Work Schedule Data centers operate 24/7. Two shift schedule options: Weekend Rotation Days: Sunday–Tuesday, plus every other Saturday. Pattern: Alternates between 3‑day and 4‑day weeks. Hours: 5:30 am–6:00 pm (day) or 5:30 pm–6:00 am (night). Weekday Rotation Days: Wednesday–Friday, plus every other Saturday. Pattern: Alternates between 3‑day and 4‑day weeks. Hours: 5:30 am–6:00 pm (day) or 5:30 pm–6:00 am (night). Overtime & Compensation Overtime: 1.5× after 40 hours per week. Night Shift Differential: 13% additional pay for 6:00 pm–6:00 am shifts. Maximum hours: 60 per week (up to 20 hours overtime). Physical Requirements Lift up to 39 lb independently; group lifts up to 40 lb. Perform construction tasks while on ladders and maintain balance. Walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, twist, and work above shoulders. Use hands and fingers to manipulate small wires and objects. Work in environment requiring ear protection. Basic Qualifications Work shifts longer than eight hours. Minimum 2 years of practical experience in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or fire suppression systems. Ability to assume awkward postures, manipulate small components, work on uneven terrain, at heights, and from ladders. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of network design, low‑voltage cabling (copper/fiber). Experience in data center engineering.
