Make a difference each day by supporting students' communication and educational growth as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming school setting near Overland Park, KS. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to provide in-person or hybrid support, with the flexibility to be on-site at least four days a week. You'll collaborate closely with staff and students, creating an inclusive learning environment for children with hearing differences and those developing alternative means of communication within specialized programs.

Preferred Background and Skills:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational settings
• Previous experience (0-3 years, 4-6 years, or 7+ years preferred)
• Familiarity with supporting students with hearing differences or limited/verbal communication
• Ability to work on-site most days each week
• SLI certification or eligibility required to support evaluations and specialized programs
• Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative attitude

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, lessons, and discussions for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or non-verbal
• Provide clear communication access in both mainstream and specialized program settings (including SAILS and STEPs)
• Partner with educators, support staff, and families to ensure student success and engagement
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Assist with evaluations and individualized education plan meetings as needed
