Job Summary
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Assemblers across multiple experience levels (Entry-level and Experienced) to join our team. This position is responsible for the assembly, testing, inspection, and packaging of finished products, components, or sub-assemblies specifically for oil and gas valves and chemical injection pumps.
Job Description
- Read work instructions, work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies, or receive verbal instructions regarding required duties.
- Interpret assembly instructions, drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications to build and test quality products.
- Assemble different parts of manufactured products using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Completely assemble, test, and package products built on the line.
- Occasionally disassemble and repair products returned by customers.
- Set up moderate to semi-complex test equipment on a variety of products to measure and record assembly conformance to test specifications.
- Set up test stands with appropriate plumbing for pneumatic and hydrostatic tests from required product test specifications.
- Complete required test documentation, including test reports, heat numbers, and nameplate markings.
- Inspect, understand, and document all materials, heat numbers, components, sub-assemblies, and specifications to assure they meet accepted quality standards.
- Participate actively in Lean events and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
- Immediately report unsafe acts or conditions to supervision.
- Assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of less experienced assemblers.
- Ensure the accurate movement of inventory through assigned areas (transactions, production reporting, resolution of negatives, etc.).
- Execute and track shift performance with daily GEMBA boards, ensuring root-cause analysis and identifying countermeasures.
- Complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) including inventory transactions.
- Complete and report Problem Reports (PR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and utilizing test stations and test equipment for factory and system acceptance testing.
- Perform layered process audits, quality audits, product quality audits, and roving audits as assigned.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing process as it pertains to your respective production cell(s).
- Be proficient in ERP systems (such as Oracle); navigate and execute tasks to complete work orders, WIP transactions, material workbench, supply demand, material requirements, and simulate discrete jobs.
- Shift: 5AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday with daily overtime and weekend work required
Skills Required
- At least 3 years of related manufacturing assembly and testing experience working with products such as: relief valves, chemical injection pumps, control/dump/check valves, butterfly valves, and liquid level controllers/switches.
- Prior experience working within ERP systems.
- Strong commitment to attendance, punctuality, and high ethical standards.
- Strict adherence to company and OSHA safety procedures (must always wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, uniforms, and other required PPE).
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately while meeting TAKT time and quality standards.
- Ability to operate assembly and testing equipment properly and safely.
- Mathematical aptitude: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Professional English communication skills (read, speak, and write) with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, presses, assembly equipment, and personal computers/workstations.
- Ability to work with limited supervisory guidance.
- Proficiency in using torque wrenches.
- Effective email communication skills to flag potential risks regarding safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable middleware software applications and navigation options.
- Ability to use Windchill, complete problem reports, and follow through with changes as required.
- Strong cross-departmental interface skills to support business goals.
- Qualified to train others, run to standard work, catch variance in peer production techniques, and correct issues across production cells.
- Practical knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
