Inpatient Surgery RN

*Employment Type:* Full time *Shift:* 12 Hour Day Shift *Description:* *Position Purpose*
At *Saint Mary's Hospital*, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient General Surgery unit delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast-paced Med/Surg environment, caring for adult and geriatric surgical patients throughout their inpatient stay. This role focuses on post-operative recovery, ongoing assessment, and coordination of care, ensuring safe outcomes and a smooth transition from hospitalization to home or the next level of care.
*What You Will Do*
* Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative general surgery patients, including assessment, pain management, wound care, and monitoring for complications.
* Collaborate with surgeons, hospitalists, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient progression, recovery, and discharge planning.
* Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, medications, activity restrictions, and recovery expectations to promote safe transitions.
*Minimum Qualifications* *Required*:
* Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in Nursing is required
* Valid RN license in Connecticut
* Ideal candidates will have one or more years of General Surgery, Med/Surg, or Acute Inpatient nursing experience.
*Preferred*:
* BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), certification support offered post-hire.
*Position Highlights:*
* Full-Time: 30 hrs/week – *Day *Shift
* The schedule would include two 12-hour shifts one week, and three 12-hour shifts the second week of each pay period.
* Rotating weekends and holidays
* Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 – $59.95/hour
