Employment Associate AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Employment Associate Attorney to join our litigation-focused employment practice. The successful candidate will provide legal counseling to employers, manage complex employment disputes, and support all phases of litigation from pre-suit counseling through trial. This role emphasizes motion practice, discovery, depositions, and strategic case development in both employment and related commercial litigation matters.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide counseling to clients on employment law matters including policies, compliance, investigations, and risk managementManage a caseload of employment and commercial litigation matters, handling pleadings, discovery, and motion practiceDraft, file, and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions, including summary judgment motions and responsesPrepare and defend depositions; conduct witness preparation and manage deposition strategyConduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and legal correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and persuasivenessCollaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy, client pitches, and settlement negotiationsParticipate in trial preparation and, when appropriate, take an active role at trial or in arbitration proceedingsAssist in developing business for the practice through client relationship management and contributing to proposals and thought leadershipQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolBarred in IL4+ years of employment litigation and counseling experienceProven experience in motion practice, including drafting and arguing summary judgment motionsExperience conducting and defending depositions and handling all stages of discoveryStrong legal research and writing skills, with experience preparing briefs, pleadings, and client advisoriesExcellent client counseling and oral advocacy skills; comfortable advising employers and employees on complex legal issuesAbility to work independently and as part of a team, manage competing deadlines, and prioritize a busy caseloadFamiliarity with e-discovery tools and litigation technology; attention to detail and strong organizational skillsProfessionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical practice
