HR Generalist – Bilingual Spanish/English

You are a bilingual Spanish/English HR Generalist to manage the day-to-day employee lifecycle for a 55–60-person workforce, including office staff and skilled field tradespeople. This new position will provide hands-on HR support while ensuring compliance with California labor laws, managing recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, safety, workers’ compensation, and payroll timekeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, approachable, and comfortable supporting both leadership and employees in office and field environments.

Location: Petaluma, CA - onsite
Hours Expected: Full-Time
Salary Range: $70,000–$80,000 annually

What you will be doing

• Manage employee records, HR administration, and compliance with California wage and hour requirements.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding, including background checks, employment agreements, orientations, and safety protocols.
• Audit digital timekeeping, including QuickBooks Time, and verify project-specific hours for payroll processing.
• Administer employee benefits, leave programs, and sick-time tracking.
• Support OSHA training and certification records and manage workers’ compensation claims through return-to-work.
• Serve as a trusted resource for employee questions, policies, workplace concerns, and annual performance reviews.
• Manage recruiting from requisition intake and candidate screening through interview coordination and candidate communication.
• Partner with managers and field leadership to address routine personnel needs and maintain a positive employee experience.

What you bring

• 5+ years of dedicated HR administrative or HR coordinator experience; construction, specialty trades, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills required.
• Strong knowledge of California employment, wage and hour, leave, and workplace compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and digital timekeeping/payroll applications.
• Working knowledge of OSHA compliance, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, and employee relations.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, emotionally intelligent, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Comfortable communicating with executives, managers, office employees, and field tradespeople.
• PHR-CA or SHRM-CP certification highly preferred.
