Thermal Analysis Lead

Job Overview This position provides management support and technical leadership to the group performing a subdiscipline of mechanical engineering across all projects and programs. The role includes directing work of individual contributors on the team, providing organizational support for project teams, and assisting with the design, analysis, and drafting of systems, structures, and components for advanced reactor plants. Responsibilities Support the execution of mechanical design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards. Lead a team responsible for performing thermodynamic system analysis to inform the design, manufacturing, construction, and licensing strategy of advanced reactor plants. Manage the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects, ensuring qualified engineers perform assigned work. Lead design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure convergence of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers for on‑schedule, on‑budget delivery of high‑quality engineering work products. May manage mechanical engineering staff, ensuring they meet expectations and promoting professional development. Influence and support the development of strategy, methodology, and technical tools for the area of responsibility. Interpret internal business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services. Perform planning and analysis required to assess aspects of the SSCs to ensure they meet technical specifications and design requirements. Compute structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations using hand calculations and analytical tools. Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create next‑generation nuclear power plants. Perform work in accordance with design control procedures, including documentation, internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university or college. Typically seven years of engineering experience; graduate degrees typically count as two additional years of experience. Experience and/or knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Use of 1D flow‑solvers for heat, energy, and mass balance (e.g., RELAP, Flownex, NPSS, SINDA/FLUINT, Flomaster, or similar).
