Position Title: Youth Programs Coordinator Supervisor: Youth Programs Manager (primary), Gym Director (secondary) Type of Position: Salaried, Full Time Salary: $45,000-$50,000 with potential for performance-based bonuses. Pay commensurate with experience. Duties & Responsibilities The Youth Program Coordinator role is a key part of the Sportrock leadership team. The YPC bridges the gap between the company-wide priorities of the Youth Programs department and gym-specific needs. It is primarily an administrative and supervisory role while involving frequent on-the-floor work mentoring Coaches & Event Staff and covering programs when required. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing youth climbers of all levels and strong management skills. Youth Programs Included Introductory Programs Recreational Programs Competitive Teams Summer Camps School-Year Camps Birthday Parties Youth Private Instruction Outreach & Program Growth Develop and refine outreach for your location, including: Automated emails through Redpoint HQ One-off emails or campaigns sent through Brevo One-off text messages or campaigns Phone outreach React quickly to priorities set by the Youth Programs Manager or Gym Director to keep programs running at or near capacity. Train Coaches & Event Staff on sales, conversion, and re-enrollment. Train Front Desk Staff on sales, conversion, and re-enrollment. Engage youth in meaningful ways at in-gym events. Program Execution Implement company-wide youth program resources (curriculum, lesson plans, trainings) to ensure a standardized, high-quality offering across all locations. Audit success outcomes with the Youth Programs Manager and provide mentorship and accountability when standards are not met. Attend, organize, and oversee “open‑house” style events for recreational programs and camps. Attend, organize, and oversee athlete assessments for competitive programs. Work closely with head coaches to identify participants ready to advance and ensure proactive parent communication. Monitor conversion and retention within the youth programs pipeline, addressing registration dips before they affect revenue. Management Handle all staffing needs for youth programs, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing mentorship. Ensure staff adhere to company-wide youth program standards, providing mentorship, expectations, and consequences when necessary. Conduct regular training based on identified individual and team growth opportunities. Conduct monthly 1:1 check‑ins with all Coaches & Event Staff. Conduct performance reviews twice annually. Maintain current certifications: SafeSport, CPR, and USA Climbing. Cover Youth Programs shifts as needed. Operations & Customer Experience Maintain a 24‑hour response time for all customer‑facing external communication. Respond to all inquiries regarding youth programs within 24 hours. Ensure front desk staff are knowledgeable and can answer most in‑person questions and tickets without forwarding. Oversee registration and payment collection for all youth programs. Manage, track, and submit expenses for teams (e.g., apparel, equipment, travel for out‑of‑state comps). Support the development of departmental SOPs. Professional Expectations Attend and be prepared for all meetings. Cultivate an inviting, supportive atmosphere and become an integral part of the climbing community. Greet every customer with eye contact, a smile, and a verbal acknowledgement. Engage visitors in a lively and warm manner. Go the extra mile to make customer experiences unforgettable. Stay up‑to‑date on facility offerings, gym‑management software, and recent communications. Effectively manage risk in an indoor climbing environment. Uphold gym rules, procedures, and policies. Manage your time clock appropriately. Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in and around climbing gyms. 3+ years of climbing experience across indoor, outdoor, bouldering, and sport. Education background preferred but not required. Ability to lead by example and teach all youth program curricula. Personable, friendly, and helpful attitude. Professional attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to assess, teach, and critique climbing technique for climbers of all abilities. Extensive risk‑management experience for rock climbing with minors. Strong communication skills: interpersonal, customer relations, conflict resolution. Friendly and people‑oriented, able to build relationships with members, guests, youth participants, parents, and staff. Single Pitch Instructor or Climbing Wall Instructor certifications preferred.
