LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Garrett County Health Department Oakland, MD 21550 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide mental health and/or substance-related disorder services to clients of the Garrett County Center for Behavioral Health, including individual and group counseling services. This position will complete mental health diagnostics and/or substance use assessments and evaluations. This position will provide services at any approved office location and/or a school location. The incumbent should be committed to professional integrity and clinical excellence and must demonstrate accountability, reliability, efficient time management, and effective, transparent communication with clients and colleagues. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers. Experience: Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess the following: Experience using evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), is preferred. Experience demonstrating professional integrity and clinical excellence while managing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing work effectively. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
