Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Description Position: Surgical Technician Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm (call required); full-time day shift. Responsibilities Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and keep the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure. Maintain high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment. Assemble all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure. Support customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintain good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; respond to complaints in a timely manner. Monitor aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and take immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique. Identify and report environmental concerns to management and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and policies. Supervise other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Promote a safe environment and take appropriate action in emergency situations, controlling hazards that may endanger patients, visitors, and employees. Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, and perform hand washing according to policy, adhering to all infection control practices. Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and support departmental quality standards and initiatives. Provide assistance and support to members of the surgical team as needed. Assist the team with safe and efficient operating room turnover times and direct ancillary personnel during room turnover. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively. Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the healthcare industry. Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies to hand surgeons the correct tools during surgeries. Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels. Ability to understand and process surgeon‑dictated instructions and directions. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. Assembly of mechanical devices and knowledge of fundamental human anatomy. Work well with multiple team members. Work a flexible schedule and adapt to change. Organizational skills, customer relations, verbal and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in grammar/spelling, and the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Keyboarding (manual) and computer (visual) skills. Multitask and possess excellent communication skills. Education High School Graduate or equivalent (Required). Associate degree in a Technical/Vocational School (Preferred). Field of Study: Surgical Technology. Experience 2+ years of technical experience in the field (Preferred). 1+ years relevant experience (Preferred). Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS) (Required). State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR NCCT Technician in Surgery (TS-C) (Required). Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance.
