Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for performing daily custodial and light maintenance duties throughout an assigned school facility while following district cleaning and safety standards. Hours: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Pay: $20.52

Essential Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas of the building, including classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, stairwells, lounges, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and disinfect floors and other surfaces according to district standards.
• Operate and properly maintain custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, I-mops, vacuums, carpet extractors, and other cleaning equipment.
• Safely mix, handle, and use cleaning chemicals according to established procedures.
• Dust furniture, windowsills, ledges, equipment, and high surfaces.
• Clean interior and exterior windows, mirrors, doors, and glass panels.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
• Restock restroom and custodial supplies as needed.
• Monitor assigned areas for maintenance concerns and report repairs promptly.
• Maintain an organized and fully stocked custodial storage area.
• Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, bleachers, and equipment for school events.
• Assist with moving furniture when needed.
• Help with seasonal duties such as shoveling snow and applying sand or ice melt to sidewalks and entrances.
• Assist with stripping, refinishing, and waxing floors.
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Follow all district safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and custodial tools.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products and safe chemical handling.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders.
• Regularly perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the workday.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Work both indoors and outdoors as needed in varying weather conditions.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and work around moving mechanical equipment while following all safety procedures.

Work Environment

This position works in a school environment with occasional exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment. The work environment is generally moderate in noise level and requires adherence to established safety practices.
