Inventory Analyst

Manufacturing company seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst with a focus on inventory to join growing manufacturing team in the Greenville, SC area. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for monitoring inventory accuracy, analyzing inventory trends, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with operations, purchasing, production, and accounting teams to optimize inventory performance. This position is ideal for a finance or accounting professional with 2-4 years of experience who enjoys working with data, identifying process improvements, and driving operational efficiency. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and financial skills, with preferred experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments. Key Responsibilities Analyze inventory transactions, balances, and trends to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity. Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and system records. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory close processes. Assist with cycle count programs and physical inventory audits. Prepare inventory-related reports, KPIs, and variance analyses for management review. Monitor inventory reserves, obsolete inventory, and slow-moving stock. Partner with operations, supply chain, purchasing, and production teams to identify inventory optimization opportunities. Evaluate inventory costing and assist with standard cost updates and variance analysis. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities related to inventory and working capital. Analyze inventory turnover, carrying costs, and inventory performance metrics. Ensure compliance with internal controls and company inventory policies. Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation as requested. Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased inventory accuracy. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field. 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, inventory analysis, accounting, or related analytical role. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis functions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment. Understanding of inventory accounting principles and cost accounting concepts. Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar platforms. Knowledge of inventory control methodologies, cycle counting, and physical inventory processes. Experience with business intelligence or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
