Lead Sales Engineer

Eaton’s North American Sales Division is currently seeking a Lead Sales Engineer to join our team. This hybrid position is based at our New Orleans, LA or Baton Rouge, LA location. What you’ll do: The primary function of the Lead OEM Sales Engineer is to market and sell Eaton’s products and services to obtain orders that are profitable to Eaton. The position is expected to grow electrical component, assembly products and sales results. This will be expected in the geographic market region consistent with the expectations of seasoned sales professionals. The primary responsibility is to grow sales within the targeted Electrical OEM segments in the New Orleans, LA, or Baton Rouge, LA area. The Lead OEM Sales Engineer is tasked with managing an assigned customer base, increasing sales in the local marketplace, and application guidance and technical assistance to assigned customers. This position is expected to develop, grow and maintain relationships with Eaton employees, specifiers and customers including Eaton authorized distributors. A key focus for this position is setting a strategy for selling circuit protection, power distribution solutions, and control products to OEM customers, thereby driving market share growth in those categories. In this function you will: Develop and execute strategic plans to meet performance and growth expectations and requirements Quote projects and negotiate pricing agreements Prepare sales presentations and training to create demand through product understanding and awareness Build relationships with key customers to enhance long‑term business prospects Work with factories to resolve technical issues while working with customers to resolve quality issues Canvas the market to gain insight and adjust to ever changing pricing and delivery requirements Assist team to develop a coordinated sales effort while keeping management informed of market conditions Participate in ongoing training on both functional and technical skills Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum five (5) years of electrical sales and/or minimum seven (7) years’ experience in the electrical industry Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license Relocation is not available. Candidates must currently reside within a 50-mile radius of Baton Rouge, LA or New Orleans, LA to be considered. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Three (3) years of OEM experience Skills: Position Criteria: Ability to respond to a variety of challenging circumstances while continuing to demonstrate superior selling skills for important customer services and applications Must have strong knowledge base and experience with electrical components & solutions and applications, with emphasis on circuit protection, industrial controls and power distribution products. Solid understanding of market trends, industry issues, and knowledge of competitors Electrical product knowledge Ability to provide technical solutions built around customer needs Skilled in time management Possess negotiating skills while understanding and using techniques needed to close orders Experience with preparing sales proposals that meet customer expectations Robust presentation, training and communications skills Experience utilizing value added selling techniques Strong work ethic, communications skills, competitiveness, willingness to learn and adept at building relationships Experience working with configuration tools, pricing methodologies and business systems Ability to travel up to 25% All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process. The compensation range for this full‑time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $123,750- $181,500. Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
