Application Engineer / Robot Programmer

Salary: $72,800 - 99,840 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering and four years of related robotic automation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Hands-on industrial robot programming experience, including recent use of a robot teach pendant
• Experience delivering automation projects at customer sites, including robot setup, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, or process applications
• Ability to read electrical and controls prints
• Ability to work directly with customers and collaborate with controls engineers
• Willingness to travel up to 90%, domestically and occasionally internationally
• Valid passport and drivers license
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Experience with any major industrial robot platform; no specific brand is required

• Develop, modify, and implement engineered solutions for industrial robotics and automation systems
• Create customized solutions for customer processes, including GUIs, application software, and hardware interfaces
• Adapt existing hardware and software solutions to accommodate variations in peripheral devices
• Provide technical direction for assigned projects and support in-house, onsite, and remote customer engagements
• Assist with project implementation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites
• Read and interpret electrical and controls prints used in factory automation
• Coordinate with customers, controls engineers, and internal engineering teams
• Estimate project effort for quotes, budgets, and schedules, and complete assigned work within established timelines
• Document product-specific problems and solutions in application notes
• Periodically lead small teams of 2–4 people by planning, assigning, and directing work
• Ensure engineering work meets customer specifications and complies with safety and quality requirements

We are seeking an Application Engineer / Robot Programmer to support industrial robotics and automation projects from setup and programming through commissioning and troubleshooting. The position is based in Shelby Township, Michigan, and is onsite at customer locations with travel of up to 90%. It reports to the Engineering Manager and is a contract-to-hire opportunity lasting at least three months, with a pay rate of $35–$48 per hour.
