Director OF Supply Chain

Summary Responsible for directing, planning, organizing, controlling and overseeing personnel of the daily activities of the centralized system-wide Supply Chain Procurement department that operates efficiently and meets the needs of all entities within Memorial Healthcare System. Leads the Procurement strategies within the healthcare system. Oversees all procurement activities for the healthcare system as it relates to supplies, equipment, construction, and services. Reports to Vice President Supply Chain Management. Responsibilities Oversee resolution of supply chain shortages. Collaborate with Value Analysis, Strategic Sourcing and stakeholders to establish potential substitutions/inventory levels. Maintain reports of shortages and causes to be distributed within the organization. Establish and implement policies and procedures ensuring compliance with applicable requirements of Federal, State and other regulatory agencies (e.g., Joint Commission). Ensure department complies with established policies. Integrate department’s services and primary functions by supporting the organizational mission, priorities, and goals, and delivering optimal quality health care services. Monitor and evaluate Supply Chain Procurement compliance and performance throughout the organization. Monitor all purchases for compliance and establish best practices with special purchases. Maximize use of Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) where appropriate. Focus on standardization and simplification to achieve operational and cost efficiencies without compromising standards of care. Oversee Supply Chain Audits. Provide strategic thinking and direction in collaboration with colleagues to establish a leading practice supply chain procurement model. Provide tactical abilities to implement leading supply chain practices. Create procurement strategies to include process and execution system-wide. Develop and implement standards consistent with administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the business unit and organization. Work in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure business needs are met. Lead workgroups, create work plans, deliverables, desired outcomes, and saving estimates with targeted timelines. Other duties as assigned. Monitor market and industry trends to be proactive in procurement activities and benchmarks. Drive ongoing system-wide procurement excellence and industry best practices to achieve goals and objectives. Maintain strong knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities, market trends and technological advances. Establish and execute plans for areas of responsibility. Assist VP of Supply Chain with planning of system-wide Supply Chain activities. Support special projects as assigned. Prepare, monitor, and evaluate Supply Chain department budgets ensuring compliance with allocated funding. Responsible for Cost Savings target in accordance with departmental and individual goals assigned. Work with Finance on special projects and expense management. Direct system-wide disaster preparedness and Supply Chain Emergency activities. Hire and manage performance of personnel to meet needs of assigned business unit. Create a results‑driven, ethical, customer‑service–driven team. Provide coaching and mentoring to staff. Establish and maintain a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Collaborate with Value Analysis Program, Sourcing, Inventory, and Logistics. Participate in assigned Value Analysis Program teams as member and/or lead. Maintain synergies and partnership with all areas of Supply Chain Management. Accountable for Procure‑to‑Pay process within the system-wide Supply Chain with goal of making the process efficient and effective. Oversee the Supply Chain invoice resolution within established guidelines. Establish and maintain professional and ethical vendor relationships with all suppliers. Create value through partnerships and collaboration. Manage Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) relationship and activities. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships internal and external to the organization. Establish effective communication with system-wide leadership, medical staff, staff, clinical and non‑clinical areas fostering collaboration, partnership and synergies within Supply Chain. Engender trust and accountability with colleagues and staff. Accountable for all system‑wide sourcing and procurement of equipment. Maintain and establish standardization to maximize contract and limit variability where appropriate. Lead all construction projects and equipment procurement in relation to Supply Chain needs system-wide. Lead and maintain committee within Supply Chain to support this effort and establish and maintain project list, budget and timelines. Collaborate with Finance on capital budgets for system-wide purchases and budgets. Create, monitor KPI’s/stats for areas of responsibility and staff productivity. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Responsible for departmental external and internal audits. Attends conferences for continued education and market intelligence. Required Work Experience: Ten year (10) years' leadership experience. Supply Chain, Sourcing or Purchasing experience preferred.
