Travel RN - Cath Lab/EP

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital position requiring cardiac catheterization skills and on-call availability.

Job Details

• Work in a high-volume Cath Lab with 6 procedure rooms and a daily census of 15-20 adult patients,
• Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures,
• Perform advanced procedures such as TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation,
• Utilize equipment including IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS,
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 7:30am-6:00pm,
• Epic charting system required,
• On-call requirement of 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts every 6-week period, including one full weekend (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday for elective cases,
• Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called for on-call shifts,
• Must be available to work or take call for one holiday per 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent license processes),
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCI RCIS preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, 3+ years preferred,
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred,
• 1:1 patient ratio experience required,
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temporary pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip,
• Scrub experience required,
• Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols,
• Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy,
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management,
• Skilled in end-tidal CO2 monitoring, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, circulating procedures, and infection prevention,
• Experience administering antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation,
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and assisting with central line insertion/management,

Additional Information

• Support a multidisciplinary cardiac care team within a facility offering adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs,
• Work in a nationally recognized cardiac cath lab with American College of Cardiology accreditation for PCI procedures,
• Facility is an acute care teaching hospital with over 700 licensed beds, Level I Trauma Center designation, Magnet recognition, and certified stroke center status,
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position,
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted,
• Previous employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler,
