The Senior Electrical Design Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, testing, and certifying advanced electronic and lighting systems for aerospace applications. In this role you will utilize your expertise in circuit design, system‑level integration, and adherence to aerospace environmental and development standards. Description The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will: Lead the design and development of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit solutions for aerospace platforms. Create hardware and system architectures that satisfy performance, reliability, and regulatory standards. Ensure all designs meet the requirements of DO-160 (environmental testing) and DO-178 (software certification guidelines). Support and manage FAA certification activities associated with FAR Parts 23, 25, 27, and 29. Conduct electrical analyses, simulations, and verification/validation testing. Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and certification packages. Partner closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to achieve full system integration. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineering staff. Assist with troubleshooting, root‑cause investigation, and corrective actions for design or field‑related issues. Work directly with DERs, FAA personnel, and other regulatory bodies during design reviews and compliance demonstrations. Profile The successful Senior Electrical Design Engineer should have the following qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace electrical design or a comparable industry. Demonstrated expertise with RTCA DO-160 and DO-178 standards. Practical experience navigating certification processes for FAR Parts 23, 25, 27, and/or 29. Proficiency with schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or LTSpice. Strong understanding of EMI/EMC design practices and associated test methodologies. Experience with power electronics, LED drivers, or lighting control systems is beneficial. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and effective problem‑solving skills. Background in aerospace, power distribution, or avionics systems. Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software co‑development practices.
