Vehicle Technician (Autonomous Fleet Operations)Location: Austin, TXJob Type: Full-TimePay Rate: $34.00/hourWork Environment: In-PersonAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced, engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support fleet readiness, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair operations for an innovative autonomous mobility company. This role is ideal for a highly skilled automotive technician with strong diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical expertise who thrives in a fast-paced fleet operations environment. You will collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for on-road testing and deployment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform vehicle diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenanceExecute high-quality repairs according to work instructions and OEM standardsConduct multi-point inspections and system checks to ensure vehicle safety and reliabilityTroubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hybrid, and high-voltage vehicle systemsConfigure, maintain, diagnose, and sign off vehicles for safe on-road operationInspect and test completed repairs as part of Quality Control (QC) proceduresEscalate advanced technical issues to engineering teams when necessaryDocument repairs, findings, diagnostics, and service reports in specialized service platformsSupport fleet readiness, workshop operations, and maintenance optimization initiativesMaintain tools, equipment, parts inventory, and organized shop facilitiesFollow OSHA, safety, hazardous waste, and PPE compliance standardsTravel locally as needed to support fleet operations and vehicle deploymentsRequired Qualifications5+ years of automotive technician, fleet maintenance, or diagnostic repair experienceExtensive knowledge of automotive systems, repair methods, tools, and diagnosticsStrong experience with vehicle troubleshooting, inspections, and preventative maintenanceExperience working with hybrid drivetrains, HV systems, HVAC, chassis, cooling, and suspension systemsKnowledge of CAN/LIN systems, embedded modules, and vehicle sensor systemsAbility to diagnose and troubleshoot Linux-based systemsClean driving record and valid driver's licenseStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentReliable, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsASE Certification and/or manufacturer certificationTechnical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in Automotive TechnologyExperience supporting autonomous vehicle (AV) fleets or advanced mobility platformsFamiliarity with self-driving systems and sensor stacksExperience optimizing fleet maintenance operations and OEM service processesAbility to travel locally and occasionally nationallyIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on automotive professional with advanced diagnostic capabilities and experience supporting fleet operations, vehicle testing, and engineering-focused maintenance environments.
