Construction Coordinator

Job Overview Open Until Filled. Salary: $2,730.61 to $3,003.67 biweekly, negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Location: Government Center/Viera. Work schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with possible evenings, weekends, and holidays. This permanent full‑time position performs skilled professional work involving the coordination and management of all aspects of large, complex county construction projects. Responsibilities include ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while adhering to standards, specifications, codes, and regulations. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum six (6) years of professional experience in the construction of transportation infrastructure, including paved roads, drainage systems, bridges, and sidewalks. At least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity. Experience reading and interpreting construction design plans. Ability to generate quantity take‑offs and prepare detailed estimates. Experience acquiring project permits and establishing project controls, including contracts, bids, and performance measures. Additional education or experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Certification as a Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, Building Contractor, or General Contractor is preferred. Experience with project management/work management software and Microsoft Excel is preferred. Special Requirements Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver’s License and maintain it during the term of employment. Employee may be required to perform emergency duties during hurricanes, major storms, or other disasters that threaten the area. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 30 lbs. In an eight‑hour day, may stand 1‑3 hours, walk 1‑3 hours, sit 5‑8 hours, and drive 1‑3 hours. Must repeatedly perform fine manipulation, pulling, pushing, and simple grasping. Must be able to balance, bend, kneel, reach, and stoop. Must have color perception; good distant vision; good hearing; good near vision; good speech; use of both eyes. Other necessary physical activities/traits: N/A.
