Lantern is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our expanding Architecture team. This is a strategic and highly visible role focused on driving architectural consistency, elevating technical standards, and helping scale our cloud-native healthcare platform to meet the needs of patients, care advocates, and enterprise clients.As a Staff Engineer, you’ll partner with cross-functional teams – including engineering leads, product managers, clinicians, and compliance – to influence the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. You will provide hands-on technical leadership across the stack while guiding engineering teams through complex architectural decisions, platform evolution, and modernization initiatives.We are looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can zoom out to evaluate systems holistically, but is not afraid to dive into code to unblock teams or lead by example. If you enjoy solving complex system design problems, mentoring other engineers, and enabling organizational scale through thoughtful architecture, we’d love to hear from you.Location: Hybrid - at least 3 days/wk in our Dallas, TX officeResponsibilitiesAct as a senior architecture contributor and technical leader across key domains, collaborating with multiple pods to deliver cohesive and scalable solutionsLead modularization and platform decoupling efforts to reduce tech debt, improve maintainability, and empower team-level ownershipDrive system design and architecture for secure, resilient, and performant services using modern cloud-native technologies (Azure preferred)Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance partners to ensure architectural alignment with business priorities, regulatory constraints, and product roadmapsGuide and mentor engineers, both formally and informally, on architecture best practices, technical growth, and system-level thinkingChampion code quality, testability, and design standards, providing deep technical reviews and working examples that elevate engineering excellenceEvaluate frameworks, tools, and integration strategies, including Salesforce and other CRM platforms, to support scale and interoperabilityContribute to and evolve Lantern’s internal architecture guidelines, reference implementations, and technical documentation, with an emphasis on innovation, AI integration, and long-term maintainabilityLead technical discovery and prototyping for complex integrations and data flow challenges, including those involving FHIR, HL7, and KafkaInfluence technical direction and execution of multi-team projects, ensuring delivery meets high standards of reliability, security, and performanceRequirements & QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior, staff, or principal-level roleProven track record designing and building distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native services using .NET Core (C#) and modern front-end frameworks (React or Angular)Experience with AI/ML services or architectural contributions to innovation-driven initiativesStrong experience in domain-driven design (DDD), microservices, and event-driven architectures using tools such as Apache Kafka (or similar platforms like RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS), including familiarity with saga patternsHands-on experience architecting solutions on Azure or AWS, including serverless functions, messaging queues, managed databases, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep)Solid experience with CRM integration design, particularly with Salesforce, and other external systems requiring structured API-based data exchange and synchronizationDemonstrated ability to lead architectural initiatives that drive improvements in scalability, performance, reliability, and developer experienceStrong understanding of CI/CD, observability, DevSecOps, and secrets management best practicesExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to clearly explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiencesNice to Have:Experience working in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, government, insurance, banking, etc.Experience applying FHIR, HL7, or X12 standards within healthcare systemsFamiliarity with cross-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectural design patternsStrong Candidates Will:Thrive in ambiguity, comfortable zooming out to evaluate systems holistically while staying hands-on enough to dive into code and unblock teamsCommunicate complex architectural trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCoach and elevate other engineers through code review and design discussions, not just their own outputBalance architectural rigor with engineering velocity and product needs, rather than optimizing for either in isolationTake ownership at the system level, driving multi-team initiatives to completion rather than staying within a single service’s boundariesBenefits:Medical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceShort & Long Term DisabilityLife Insurance401k with company matchFlexible Paid Time OffPaid Parental LeaveAbout You:You use LOGIC in your decision making and understand that progress is critical to making change.
